My Guide To Find Vegan food while in Paris, France

This year I booked myself a birthday trip to Paris. I had never been before despite studying French when I was younger, and being quite good at it, I have you know. (Now I remember only tidbits of this beautiful language). I really didn’t know what to expect. If the French people would be as arrogant as they say (and sometimes are in London) and that vegan food would be hard to find that I’ve seen people state online. The city itself was magnificent, the people were warm, friendly and chatty and vegan food, is not a problem to find at all!

I encourage you to visit if you like stunning architecture, beautiful parks, culture and second-hand shopping.

So this is a list of the places I stumbled across, mixed with tips from my friend Louise who used to live in Paris and I’ll also add some of the places from my wish list that I dint get a chance to visit, at a later date.

Gentle Gourmet

Vegan fine dining. Make sure to book a table. If you look online this place has some really mixed reviews. I will write a post about my experience there and link it here shortly. Meanwhile, I enjoyed the food there. I thought it was delicious, beautifully presented and had a mix of textures on my plate.

La Recyclerie

This is a really quirky space in the North of Paris. I stumbled across this place on my way back to the metro from visiting Saint-Ouen in Porte de Clignancourt. They were offering a vegan brunch on a Sunday. I was not that hungry and wanted something lighter so decided to look for other options. The staff were really friendly, and I’d like to try another time.

On a warning note though: I was visiting this area by myself and it’s not nice. It’s dodgy, especially beneath the bridge to the markets. Where people were shouting at me and approaching me. I did not feel safe as a woman here and it was in the middle of the day. (My street-smart nerves from my London days kicked in big time here due to all the groups of men hanging around)

Located: 83 Boulevard Ornano, 75018 Paris, France

Le Potager du Marais

I found this place while I was exploring the Marais area. It’s a small restaurant serving lunch and dinner.  They have a really interesting menu.  I had the lupin roll with mushrooms and a tarragon sauce. Which was the most French sounding and different I could find on the menu.

Le Bar at Shangri-La Hotel

As the afternoon tea aficionado that I am, I booked myself a birthday treat at the Shangri-La in Paris, as they serve a vegan afternoon tea at Le Bar. Needless to say, the service was attentive, the patisseries absolutely delicious and the surroundings beautiful. Book well in advance. This is where you can find more information.
