My Guide To Find Vegan food while in Paris, France

written by veronica April 29, 2018
My Guide To Find Vegan food while in Paris, France

This year I booked myself a birthday trip to Paris. I had never been before despite studying French when I was younger, and being quite good at it, I have you know. (Now I remember only tidbits of this beautiful language).

I really didn’t know what to expect. If the French people would be as arrogant as they say (and sometimes are in London) and that vegan food would be hard to find that I’ve seen people state online. The city itself was magnificent, the people where warm, friendly and chatty and vegan food, is not a problem to find at all!

I encourage you to visit, if you like stunning architecture, beautiful parks, culture and second hand shopping.

So this is a list of the places I stumbled across, mixed with tips from my friend Louise who used to live in Paris and I’ll also add some of the places from my wish list that I dint get a chance to visit, at a later date.

Wild and the Moon

Gentle Gourmet

Vegan fine dining. Make sure to book a table. If you look online this place has some really mixed reviews. I will write a post about my experience there and link it here shortly. Meanwhile I enjoyed the food there. I thought it was delicious, beautiful presented and had a mix of textures on my plate.

Located: 24 Boulevard de la Bastille, 75012 Paris, France

La Recyclerie

This is a really quirky space in the North of Paris. I stumbled across this place on my way back to the metro from visiting Saint-Ouen in Porte de Clignancourt. They where offering a vegan brunch on a Sunday. I was not that hungry and wanted something lighter so decided to look for other options. The staff where really friendly, and I’d like to try another time.

On a warning note though: I was visiting this area by myself and it’s not nice. It’s dodgy especially beneath the bridge to the markets. Where people where shouting at me and approaching me. I did not fell safe as a woman here and it was in the middle of the day. (My street-smart nerves from my London days kicked in big time here due to all the groups of men hanging around)

Located: 83 Boulevard Ornano, 75018 Paris, France

Pret A Manger

This classic take-away chain has several locations in Paris. They have vegan options.

Yem’a

Completely gluten free and vegan café/restaurant. Offering hearty bowls and desserts. I really enjoyed the food here. It was healthy and hearty. I had a bowl with their kale and shiitake mushroom, quinoa and hummus. It was great. I also tasted my boyfriends food, and I really enjoyed the flavour combinations of the dishes he had choosen. The carrot cake was unbelievable moist and delicious.

Located: 41 Rue Godot de Mauroy, 75009 Paris, France

Le Pain Quotidien

You can throw a stone in any direction and you’ll find a Le Pain Quotidien. Which for a vegan is great since they have plenty of vegan options and their food is organic. Do not miss the Moelleux au Chocolat, it’s a real divine treat!

Hanks Burger

Yummy vegan burgers with sides and dessert if you have room left in your tummy.  The portions are huge. I had the burger with the olives and homemade tomato sauce. I really liked it! The coleslaw is kind of addictive.

Located: 55 Rue des Archives, 75003 Paris, France

We are juice

Classic juicebar also servings sandwiches in the Marais area.

Located: 34 Rue des Jeuneurs, 75002 Paris, France

Hot Vog

I found this place on my way to Jardin du Luxembourg, however I wasn’t hungry at the time. But noted the location and the name. This place specialises in vegan hot dogs. The prices seemed reasonable as well.

Located: 10bis Rue Vavin, 75006 Paris, France

Le Potager du Marais

I found this place while I was exploring the Marais area. It’s a small restaurant serving lunch and dinner.  They have a really interesting menu.  I had the lupin roll with mushrooms and a tarragon sauce. Which was the most French sounding and different I could find on the menu.

Located: 24 Rue Rambuteau, 75003 Paris, France

Le Bar at Shangri-La Hotel

vegan_afternoon_tea_paris

As the afternoon tea aficionado that I am, I booked myself a birthday treat at the Shangri-La in Paris, as they serve a vegan afternoon tea at Le Bar. Needles to say, the service was attentive, the patisseries absolutely delicious and the surroundings beautiful. Book well in advance. This is where you can find more information.

Located: 10 Avenue d’Iéna, 75116 Paris, France
