I love turmeric lattes, especially in the evenings. I find them comforting and a great help during the day in terms of helping me stay away from my espresso machine. (I’m trying to cut down on coffee and I’m doing very well thank you).
There are ready-made mixtures which you can buy. However I like to make my own as it’s way cheaper than buying a tin and also I can flavour the powder mix as I like it.
I never add sweetener to my turmeric lattes, instead, I add a hefty amount of cinnamon to my turmeric latte powder.
I don’t make a fancy paste out of this, what I do is that I boil water, and add it to a cup in which I have already added about 1-2 teaspoons of the powder already. Then I whisk this together with about 1 – 1,5 dl of boiling water, then I add frothy oat milk to the cup, give it a gentle stir and then I enjoy it. Probably snuggled up on the sofa under a blanket or at my window table in the kitchen with a magazine.
Sometimes I add a teaspoon of virgin coconut before adding the frothy plant-based milk. But it depends on how I feel that day. It can be nice if I’m a bit hungry/have cravings or need an extra boost of energy.
This is the approximate amount of making my turmeric latte powder:
- 12 tbsp turmeric powder
- 4 tbsp cinnamon powder
- 1 tbsp cardamom powder
- 1/2 tbsp ginger powder
Directions:
- Measure and add all ingredients to a clean glass jar. Ensure it’s big enough to have some air once you have added all the spices to the jar.
- Attach the lid to the jar, shake it until all the spices are evenly blended.
- Then it’s just to start making your own turmeric lattes at home.
