How to roast Chestnuts

I enjoy roasted Chestnuts throughout this season, in fact Christmas would not be complete without them.  Roasted chestnuts are also an ideal snack for any impromptu cocktail parties or get togethers. If you need to come up with a few quick snacks to have at hand. Just follow the instructions below and you will have a yummy snack in no time at all.

 

How to roast chestnuts:
  1. Preheat your oven to 225 C (437 F).
  2. With a small and sharp knife, cut a cross on top of each chestnut. Be sure to piece the skin with the knife. 
  3. Place in a thick oven dish, which holds your chestnuts snugly.
  4. Add to the middle of the oven,  roast for 15-20 minutes.

TIP: When the cut in the chestnuts have opened up, prick them with a toothpick inside the cut to see if they are tender. If not leet roast a bit longer.
